Police raided two illegal gay spas in Malacca, Malaysia last Friday following a tip-off by parents of a foreign student.

New Straits Times, Malaysia reported the following last Sunday (Nov 7th):

From outside, nobody would suspect that two shophouses without signboards in Jalan Kampung Pantai and Lorong Hang Jebat near Jonker Street here were allegedly spas for gays.

Popular with tourists, Jonker Street is in the heart of Malacca, a historical city known for its Portuguese and Straits Chinese (Peranakan) heritage.
More than 30 men, aged between 20 and 50, were caught partially or totally naked in a raid on the illegal spas last Friday.

The raid was conducted by officers of the Foreign Student and Workforce Division (FSWD) of the Chief Minister's Department, Immigration Department, Melaka Tengah district police headquarters, state Islamic Department (Jaim) and Malacca Historical City Council.

FSWD chief Shadan Othman said the spas came to light after a tip-off by parents of a higher learning institution student.

"We received a tip-off from the parents of an Indonesian student who learnt about their son's activities here," he said.

"We conducted surveillance on both centres for about a week.

"During the raid at 9pm, we found most of the men in both spas clad in towels. Some of them were also found naked in one of the spas' open shower area," he said, after the operation at Jalan Kilang, Melaka Tengah here.

What is naturism?
Naturism, or nudism as it is sometimes called, is generally defined as the practice of going nude, especially in a mixed social setting. While accurate as far as it goes, the standard definition fails to grasp the "why" of naturism -- why do people choose to be naturists? Individual responses to that question vary greatly. For some, naturism is a carefully considered lifestyle; for others, it is no more complicated than a day at the nearest nude beach. What connects these two extremes is the sense of freedom naturist activities provide. It may be a matter of simple comfort—first-time skinny-dippers frequently marvel at how good it feels to be clothes-free—or there may be something more profound. For many, the social nudity that helps define naturism is personally liberating; through it, we come not only to accept ourselves but others.

Who are these people?
Broadly speaking, anyone who practices nude recreation, social nudity, or both. By that standard, there are many millions of naturists worldwide, especially in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. According to recent surveys, one in four Americans - roughly 70 million people - have skinny-dipped or sunbathed in the nude. And while not all of them are naturists, the rapid growth the nude recreation industry has experienced in recent years suggests many are. No longer confined to small, secretive enclaves, today’s naturists have a variety of recreational and social outlets.

How about in a conservative country like Malaysia, or Singapore?
Well, we have at least 2 clubs that you could join to further explore this social recreation that we have come to know as "naturism", or "nudism-in-disguise".

SG Nud Club (Singapore)
For starter, a group calling themselves SG Nude Club has recently conducted a nude gathering at a member's flat, with participants numbering less than 10 (for obvious reasons due to the size of the flat). These so-called nudists brought along some food as part of the potluck initiative, stripped off all their clothes, and mingled along with the rest of the members as part of this gathering.

From details on their site, they are planning further meet-ups and possibly a larger venue to accommodate more members who are interested in participating in these nudist activities. Well, if you ask me, anything "done" behind closed doors is NOT considered "naturism". Period.

Nudism Society of Malaysia (MY)
Ok, the members here are predominantly Malaysians, with a handful of visitors from Singapore. From the discussions in their online forum (members only, password protected), various gatherings have been proposed since time immemorial, but nothing concrete has been done thus far. One of the reason could be the fact that it is certainly an uphill task trying to promote nudism/naturism in Malaysia, especially with the strict laws of the land and not to mention the conservative (and downright backward) thinking of some of the folks over here. Anything to do with a group of guys - nude in public - is likely to be construed as a public gay orgy. Believe me.

This is the introduction posted on Nudism Malaysia:

We are a bunch of nudists from Malaysia who found each other online and decided to form a society of sorts to spread and encourage the concept of being clothes-free and to assure other Malaysian nudists that “Yes, there are others like you who enjoy being nude“.

Therefore, first and foremost, we would like to welcome you to our site.

Before we go any further, as reminder, if you’re looking for porn or anything sexually explicit in nature, then you’ve clearly entered the wrong site.

This site is dedicated to publishing, promoting, educating and showcasing nudism in Malaysia — to Malaysians as well as to the international public.

Being located in Malaysia, we would like to clearly state that our intentions and purpose of setting up this site is not to promote indecent or immoral activities among Malaysians, especially its youth.

It is more towards promoting and educating Malaysians, regardless of age, race, religion, and gender on a healthy alternative to nude recreation, socializing, and the overall lifestyle.

Fret not. This is how you could still go nude. In public.
(1) Doing it at home. Which defeats the point of it all ... but still?
(2) Major parks that are dimmed out at night. Watch out for midnight strollers. Especially in SG.
(3) Some nudists (and gays, by the way) in SG are doing late night jogging in the nude. Seriously.
(4) At your local swimming pool. Remember to look out for the odd lifeguard on duty.
(5) Changing rooms. Be it in MY or SG, here you can take it all off. And walk around, aimlessly.
(6) Some folks are doing it at the far-end of Siloso beach in Sentosa. Male AND female. Eye-candy galore!
(7) Gay saunas in MY & SG. Do walk around naked. Remember, it's no longer naturism, but exhibitionism.
(8) Go online, search for a clothing optional beach resort in Asia ... and remember to pack light. Go with your partner or your spouse. Grab a Koala G-string (men) or a Wicked Weasel micro bikini (women) along. Have fun in the sun, naked or partial, and enjoy the unprecedented freedom only a true naturism experience could bring you.

Bon voyage!

MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore has been revamped some time back, and aside from the greenery & amenities added to the beautification of this place, they have what is known as an 'open concept shower' toilet facility for joggers & dragon boaters alike to wash away the grime.
The open shower area is fast becoming a great 'hangout' for PLUs, more so if you could ogle likeminded folks as well as straight - but daring - men showering (& showing off) in the buff.

Open shower concept is nothing new in Singapore, having taken up pole positions in many of the swimming complexes strewn across the republic nation. But here at MacRitchie Reservoir, the open shower area is basically 'partitioned' off from the public area by wooden walls that has slits/grooves in it. Yup, all you need is to come closer and take a peek.

Some PLUs are reportedly hanging out at MacRitchie Reservoir after dusk for more than a jog. Inside the shower areas, they would love to strip it all off and on the pretext of taking a shower, to show off their well-toned & tanned bods for anybody with a voyeuristic tendency.

Oh, and not to mention hot & steamy sessions right after that!

For more than 16 years, there has not been a single entrapment conducted by the Singapore police in regard to gay cruising activities at popular haunts. Looks like this is going to change with the recent report in the New Paper:

On May 4, the police conducted an anti-vice operation at the old cemetery along Jalan Kubor, an area known for vice. The police declined to to give details of the vice activities.

A plainclothes policeman was standing alone in a poorly lit spot when he was approached by Jagadiswaran Krisnan, 32, a coffee house supervisor, at about 10.40pm. Jagadiswaran struck up a conversation with the undercover cop.

Two other police officers were stationed a short distance away, ready to provide help.

While talking to the officer, Jagadiswaran, a Malaysian, moved closer to him. He told the officer that he was there “to have fun”.

Then, he suddenly raised his hand and stroked the officer’s chest and private parts.

That was when the undercover cop identified himself and, with the help of his colleagues, arrested the man. Jagadiswaran was charged with behaving in an indecent manner in a public place. He was fined $1,000 on Tuesday.

So, with the above departure, would Singapore police be conducting such regular "entrapment activities" from now on? You decide.

First, a gay fitness centre at a shopping mall in Pulau Tikus, Penang was raided by police on Friday night. Seven men - a caretaker and six workers - aged between 20 and 30 were arrested. The report quoted Penang CID Chief SAC II Wan Abdullah Tunku Said as saying that police also seized three towels, massage oil, tissue boxes and a tube of lubrication jelly believed to be used during gay activities.

Next, the same weekend, police raided another 2 massage centres in Kuala Lumpur. Upon entry into the premise, they found the walls of the centres were plastered with pictures of male masseurs available to serve male clients. A total of 25 male clients were detained during the raid at the two centres which were equipped with closed-circuit television at the main entrance where clients were only admitted into the centres after giving a password.

Over 4,000 people turned up and turned Hong Lim Park pink as a show of support for their LGBT friends, family and community, and made it the largest event ever held at the urban park.

It broke last year's record and made prime-time news the same night – marking the first time a gay (supportive) event received coverage on local television.

The 30-second clip on Singapore-based Channel NewsAsia showed participants in a carnival-like atmosphere and cultural performances at Hong Lim Park where over 4,000 people turned up to show their support for the gay community by forming a huge pink human dot on Saturday. The record turnout makes Pink Dot 2010 the largest public gathering at Speakers’ Corner, Singapore’s only government-designated venue for public assembly and free speech where a police permit is not required. The inaugural Pink Dot event, held at the same venue last year, was attended by 2,500 people.

The Hong Kong censors last month demanded five cuts to a male rape scene in Hong Kong director Scud's new film Amphetamine if to be shown at cinemas after its Asian premiere at the HKIFF (Hong Kong International Film Festival).

The Hong Kong censor (the Television and Licensing Authority – TELA) classified the film as III (for those over 18 only) for the Festival.

All seemed well, and the film was due to open in commercial cinemas on the 8th, but for this it needed another license, and inexplicably this time the TELA demanded five cuts, each of five to six seconds, in the crucial scene, a male rape.

The story of the film centres around the addictions in love and drugs of its fallen angel, swimming instructor Kafka (played by the very cute Byron Pang), a straight man who finds himself in a love affair with a gay executive, Daniel (the more classically handsome Thomas Price). The film is a dark meditation on love and its bonds, on death, betrayal and the loss of innocence, and, without giving too much of the story away, the scene in which Kafka is raped forms the crux of much of what happens thereafter.

The issue upon which the TELA (Television and Licensing Authority) censored the film, according to the fax by which they announced their decision on 24 March to Artwalker, was the depiction of pain on the face of the rape victim, not the rape itself. The TELA ordered them to delete the close up of the painful reaction on the male protagonist's face on each of the five occasions it was shown. Yet they allowed the rape itself to remain. So, it’s official, male rape and torture are OK, as long as the victim isn’t seen to be objecting to it.

I read with great interest Yu-Kym's blog posting in regard to hair removal for ladies. Not just visible hair on the surface, but in the nether region as well.

It makes me wonder: how about guys? Do we shave more than we should? And the answer is ... why not!

For someone like me dead bent on achieving the perfect male form with my consistent - and recently upgraded - routines at the gym, it wasn't that much of a chore anymore to maintain the muscles that I've developed over the years.

But one thing is gonna take away the beauty of a perfectly sculpted bod: unwanted hair.

Therefore, the armpit hair has to go. Next up, shave those legs. Chest hair is also a big no-no. And finally, the private region.

For us guys, there are at least 3 styles to choose from in regard to the 'unwanted growth' down there.

(a) The Black Forest
(b) The Crew Cut
(c) The Brazilian

Option (a) came by default over the years. With this option, you're bound not to be able to find the 'tree' from the 'forest'!

Option (b) is considered a viable option for metrosexual guys who take good care of their hygiene, outlook & well-being. Usually denoted by short regions of hair not greater than 1/2 an inch.

Option (c) is my personal fave: 100% Brazilian or in layman terms, completely clean! For this, you can opt for a professional Brazilian wax or just DIY and shave it yourself.

Just imagine how the next skimpy swimming trunk is gonna fit 'better', how the next time you go naked in the locker room would be an ego 'booster', and how the next sex session would be that much 'hotter'!
